Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about UtiliPub™, the managed platform for URPX rate plan data.

UtiliPub™ is the managed cloud platform for working with utility rate plan data at scale, built on URPX, the open standard hosted by LF Energy. It turns rate plans that live in PDF filings into structured data you can search in the Explorer app, serve from a white-label Library, and query through a read API.

No. UtiliPub™ is proprietary software from Flux Tailor. It is built on URPX, the open-source utility rate plan exchange standard hosted by LF Energy. The standard is open; UtiliPub™ is the commercial toolkit for working with it.

Book a demo and we will walk you through the platform and set up your subscription. The self-serve app launches soon; until then, a demo is the fastest way in. See Pricing for plans.

Working with rate plan data in UtiliPub™, and publishing your own, requires a subscription. Rate plan data that a publisher has chosen to make public can be viewed by anyone that publisher serves it to. See Pricing for Explorer and Library plans.

UtiliPub™ works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari, with JavaScript enabled.

From published URPX rate plan data: plans a utility or publisher has structured and released. With a subscription you can also keep your own private library, and upload your own rate plan files with a schema conformance check on the way in.

Rate plan data is URPX, expressed as JSON-LD. You can export any rate plan as URPX JSON-LD, the same document your own systems can consume directly. Nothing is trapped in a proprietary format.

Yes. A private library is visible only inside your organization, with no public exposure. You choose what, if anything, you publish publicly.

Each rate plan carries an effective date for the period it applies to. Currency depends on the publisher of that plan.

Explorer is the app at the center of every UtiliPub™ subscription: browse, search, and compare published rate plan data, work with your own private library, and export any plan as URPX JSON-LD.

Yes. The UtiliPub™ read API is GraphQL: typed and paginated, over the same catalog the app uses. A query goes in, URPX JSON-LD comes out, ready for your cost models and products.

UtiliPub™ models a bill from the same prices the bill is built on: a usage scenario goes in, and the eligible options and resulting cost come out. Book a demo to see it against your own scenarios.
